FBI Says Stolen 'Wizard of Oz' Ruby Slippers Recovered The FBI has revealed that an announcement is to be made Tuesday in Minneapolis at 2 p.m. ET that the stolen slippers have in fact been recovered. In 2005, the iconic red slippers were stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Someone broke through a window and then broke the display case, stealing the shoes that were insured for $1 million. Michael Shaw, slippers' owner, to the 'Duluth News Tribune' in 2005 The shoes are one of only four pairs of ruby slippers known to exist that were worn by Garland in 'The Wizard of Oz.'
